With over 30 years of experience, John has been actively involved in treating patients with OCD and other anxiety disorders. He received training from Dr. Edna Foa's team, author of Stop Obsessing!, at the Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute, where he also worked as a research scientist. In addition, he worked at the Mount Sinai Hospital of Psychiatry outpatient clinic. He previously held the position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at New York Medical College. John has co-authored articles in professional journals and a book chapter titled "Behavioral Treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorders," and has been featured in Teen magazine and on NBC.

John holds a Licenciatura in Clinical Psychology (5-year Integrated Degree) from Lisbon University and a Master's in Science in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University, New York. He is recognized for his comprehensive approach to therapy, integrating evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) methods with humanistic values to tailor treatment to each patient's specific needs.
